DELINQUENT PROPERTY TAXES

All current taxes that remain unpaid by March 1, become a delinquent tax. On or after March 1, all delinquent taxes are paid to the Oscoda County Treasurer. A 4% administration fee is added and 1% interest.
If the delinquent tax remains unpaid until the following March 1, the property is put into forfeiture. Additional fees and interest are added to the unpaid amount. The parcel will remain in forfeiture for the next year or until the taxes are paid. After the parcel has been in forfeiture for 1 year it enters the foreclosure process. Parcels with a 2007 delinquent tax will be foreclosed in March, 2010.

Process of unpaid taxes:

Current Tax becomes due
-Summer tax/July, 2007
-Winter tax/Dec, 2007

March 1, 2008 – 2007 unpaid taxes go delinquent

March 1, 2009 – 2007 unpaid taxes go into forfeiture

April 1, 2009 – 2006 unpaid taxes get foreclosed (foreclosure is final and property cannot be redeemed after it has been foreclosed)

TAX SALES
Once a property is foreclosed it will be offered at tax sale. Typically the sale will be held in the late summer or early fall after the property was foreclosed. Information on current tax sales and foreclosed property in Oscoda County is available around July at www.tax-sale.info
