Duties of the Board of Commissioners
The Board acts as a policy-making body for all county affairs and has the power to pass ordinances pertaining to county matters. It appoints the Equalization Director, the Housing Director, the EDC Director, the Medical Examiner, the Animal Control Director and the County Attorney – in addition to many other members of the various boards and commissions functioning within the county. The budget must be approved and all spending authorized by the Board of Commissioners.

The Executive Secretary serves as a liaison between the Board of Commissioners, Department Heads and the General Public. Under the general supervision of the Board of Commissioners and performs many administrative duties. Attends all Board meetings, prepares and publishes minutes, and works closely with the Board of Commissioners and Department Heads on the County Budget.
