Current rabies certificate, proof of age and proof of spayed or neutering (if applicable) are required for all dogs in order to obtain a license.
As provided by State Law, all dogs must be licensed when they reach the age of 4 months. When the age of 4 months is reached, the owner then has 30 days to provide proof of age and current rabies shot for their dog in order to purchase a license.
Rabies shot and certificate must be done by a licensed veterinarian.
Annual License Fees
Discount for Early Purchase
December 1 through February 28: $5 for altered (spayed or neutered); $10 for unaltered. For above dates, licenses are available at the County Treasurer’s office and some local township offices.
Standard Fees
March 1 through November 30: $10 for altered (spayed or neutered); $20 for unaltered. Licenses are available at the County Treasurer’s office after March 1.
All dog licenses are sold on an annual basis. Each year, all licenses expire on December 31.
Dog Licenses can be purchased by mail. The following MUST be provided:
- Copy of the Rabies Certificate and Proof of Age.
- Copy of Spay/Neuter Certificate (if applicable).
- Check or Money Order for correct amount.
- Self addressed, Stamped Envelope.
