The Michigan Planning Enabling Act of 2008 established local planning commissions for the expressed purpose of creating a long range plan for community development that will “best promote public health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity, and general welfare.”
With this charter in mind, the primary goal of the Oscoda County Planning Commission is to guide, coordinate & promote the development of our county’s infrastructure, land & natural resources in ways that are effective & beneficial to it’s residents.
One of the main ways the planning commission accomplishes this goal is through the creation & maintenance of the “Master Plan” which is a document that serves the county as a kind of development roadmap showing where we’ve been, where we are & where we would like to be twenty years from now. The Master Plan guides us on our journey into the future.
